Is kissing the thumbs at adhan from the Sunnah ?

January 2, 2014
  • Status : FABRICATED

First of all, the respect that is due to the Best of the Creation is not contested here, one must send salutations after his blessed mention, and even regularly, for our success in this life and the hereafter lies in our love for him.

Rather what is contested is the nature of the following ahadith :

“He who kisses the finger nails of his thumb when hearing Ashadu Anna Muhamman Rasool Allah, I shall admit him into Jannah”

“ Rasullullah ﷺ wiped his eyes with the inner portion of his fore fingers after kissing them when hearing the Mu’azzin saying “Ashadu Anna Muhammadun Rasool Allah together with Ashadu Anna Muhammadan Abduhu Wa Rasuluhu, Radhitu Billahi Rabba wa Bil Islami Deena wa Bi Muhammad Sallallahu ALayhi Wa Sallam Nabiyya”

“It is reported from Hadrat Khidr Alaihis Salam , “If a person says “Marhaban bi-Habibi Quratu Aini Muhammad ibn Abdullah” when hearing the Muazzin say “Ash’hadu anna Muhammadur-Rasoolullah, then kisses his thumbs and places them on his eyes, never will they (the eyes) be sore.”

1. The hadith is fabricated, not just weak

The following masters of Hadith  and ‘ulama considered the hadith to be fabricated :

Hafiz Sakhawi (pupil of Ibn Hajr Al-‘Asqalani (RA)) (Al-Maqaasid ul Hasana, hadith 1021) : he said “la yussah” ie not sahih).

Allamah Shawkani (RA) (al-Fawaid al-Majmu’ah fi al-Ahadith al-Maudhu’ah)

Hafiz Ibn ud daiba (Tamyeez uthayba pg.171-2)

Hafiz Ibn Taahir al-Fattaany (Tazkiratul Mawdhoo’aat pg.34)

Imaam Suyootee wrote “Those ahadeeth which mention the kissing of the fingers and then placing them on the eyes when the Mu’adhdhin mentions the name of the Prophet , then all of them are fabricated.”See ad-Durar al-Muntathirah Fee Ahadeeth al- Muntashirah.” (and much more refer to Fataawa Nazeeriyyah 1/248-251)

Allamah Ibn Abidin (RA) quotes “There is no authentic Marfoo Hadeeth regarding this practice” (Radd al-muhtar, 1/398)

Mulla Ali Qari (RA) has  classified the 2nd hadith quoted above as Mawdhu  (see al-Masnu’ fi Ma’rifa al-Hadith al-Mawdu & ‘Mawdoo`aatal-Kubraa’ [no. 435])

Shaikh Muhammad Khaleel Tarbulusee Hanafee (d.1305) said, “Sakahwee has rejected it and said this is not authentic.” (al-Lulul al-Marsoo’ah Feemaa al-Asal Lahu WaBaa Asli Mawdhoo no.505 pg.168)

Shaykh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (footnotes on Al-Masnoo of Mulla Ali Qari pg.169)

Imam Baihaqi (RA) states concerning the narration in which Khidr is in the sanad :
And in its chain are several narrators who are Majhool and Allah (SWT) has not made us responsible to take our religion from Majhool narrators. (Kitaabul Qir’aa, page 127)

The same has been reported by Allamah Muhammad Tahir Hanafi.

It is evident from the above explanation that the practice of kissing one’s thumb and rubbing it on one’s eyes after “Ashadu Anne Muhammadan Rasool Allah” in the Azaan is a fabricated and baseless practice having no status in the Shari’ah.

2. Weak ?

For argument’s sake, let’s consider the hadith is only weak and not fabricated.

Let me then remind you of the conditions by which weak ahadith can be used :

‘Ulamas have explained that for using a Da’if (weak) hadith, it is absolutely necessary that these 3 conditions are met (sources in the previous link) :

  1. The narration may not be mawdhu OR its weakness not be too important;
  2. The hadith must be in accordance with renown and legitimated practices, established from valid references (Qur’an verses, authentic or reliable ahadith)
  3. One must not have the conviction that the hadith is legitimate and established so that one does not attribute to the Holy Prophet something he may not have said, as a precaution the hadith being unfounded.

In the present case :

  1. the narration is fabricated, or granted you say it is just ‘weak’, then from a neutral point of view this becomes very weak for sure
  2. the practice is not supported by any other hadith
  3. any muslim doing this nowadays has the conviction this practice is from the sunnah, whereas the one omitting the kissing of the thumbs is looked down!

Further, consider :

Imam ibn Daqeeq-ul-Eid [RA] writes:

“If a narration is weak, but not maudoo’, then it is permissible to practice upon it. However if any shi`ar of the Deen (visible sign, habit) is created by its practice, then it should be abandoned.” [Ahkamul Ahkam, vol. 1, page 51]

Allamah Sakhaawi [RA] writes:

“However, as for maudoo’, practice on it is impermissible under all circumstances.” [Al-Qawlul Bade’, page 196]

3. A point on Ibn ‘Aabideen (RA)…

Allamah Shami has mentioned that there is no authentic Hadith with regards to kissing one’s hand and touching one’s eyes when Nabi ’s name is heard during Adhaan. The Muhadditheen (scholars of Hadith) have also mentioned that the Hadith of Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Anhum) is not authentic. (Radd al-muhtar vol.1 pg.398)

He however quotes from 2 books  that it is mustahab : 1) Jami’ ar-Rumuz and 2) Fatawa Sufiyyah.

1) The same Ibn ‘Aabideen mentions Jami’ ar-Rumuz to be an unreliable book for fatwa!

Jami’ ar-Rumuz itself doesn’t even quote it from a book of fiqh, but instead from a book on duas (awrad), namely Kanz al-Ibad, which isn’t just unreliable; it is full of fabrications!

The famous Hanafi Muhaddith, Mulla Ali al-qari says regarding it:
“This ‘Kanz’ contains disgusting fabricated ahadith. It is not permissible to even hear them !”

Sh. Gulam Mustapha as-Sindi states regarding it: “It is full of weak masail and fabricated ahadith. Neither do the Fuqaha or the Muhaddithin attach any weight to this book!”

2) Fatawa Sufiyyah : Allamah Birgivi, Allamah Khadimi, Allamah Abd al-Hay al-Laknawi, Allamah Ghulam Mutapha Sindhi etc have all classified it from the unreliable books, whose masa’il are not permissible to practice upon!

See brothers and sisters :

1) Ibn ‘Aabideen (RA) says the is no authentic hadith tracing back to Rasulullah .

2) He did quote two books that are both unreliable, and one of whom he himself criticised !

3) Ibn ‘Aabideen is a great Faqih, but not an expert of hadith, and the experts have all stated his hadith to be fabricated.

4. Conclusion

This hadith is fabricated, and even if you consider it weak you cannot quote it because conditions are not met by the ‘ulama that allow quoting them.

A person can kiss this thumbs, rub his eyes, place his hands on his head or any other permissible action, the condition being that he does not view this action as an act of ibadah, just as one taking eyedrops doesn’t view this act as ibadah.

Kissing the thumbs during adhan, is nowadays viewed as mustahab or sunnah and is alleged to be based on certain ahadith. The one who omits doing this is frowned upon. That is why it is classified as a bid’ah. Accept the reality and grow up, I’ve browsed through loads of articles but none is able to give a true sanad for this practice.

If there is still anyone who claims it it not fabricated, he is requested to produce the various chains and show how they aren’t fabricated, and quote the relevant muhadditheen, not the mufassireen or fuqaha’ who are not the experts of the field.

Lastly I would like to finish with this quote :

The number of Sahaba (RA) exceeds thousands (and even hundred thousand according to some estimates) and since Adhan is called five (5) times a day, the name Muhammad must have been uttered in front of them and in the blessed presence of Rasul-ullah literally millions of times (in Adhan and outside of it) and if kissing the thumbs or the nail of the index finger was Sunnah then the books of Hadeeth would have recorded the actions of such lovers of the prophet .

Nobody better than`Ali & no sword better than dhul faqar ?

April 30, 2013
  • Status : FABRICATED

In some circles the following ‘hadith’  is often quoted to prove some corrupt agendas (2 narrations) :

1) There is no better man than `Ali, and no sword better than Dhul-Faqar

2) From Al-Hasan ibn `Arafah Al-`Abdi on the authority of Abu Gha`far Muhamad ibn `Ali Al-Baqir who said: “An angel called Radwan announced from the Heavens in (the Battle of) Badr ‘No sword other than Dhu Al-Faqar and no man better than `Ali.'”

1) The first narration is reported by ‘Isa ibn Mihran on whom the following muhaddithun have said :

Ibn Adiy said: “He narrated fabricated Hadith.”
Hâfiz al-Dhahabî said about him: “Liar” (Mizan, #6613)

Ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abu Rafi is weak as well.

Allâmah Sakhâwiy said this narration is “very weak” (Al-Maqaasidul Hasana, 1307)

Imâm al-Bukhâri said: “Munkar al-Hadith.”

Ibn Ma’een said his narrations are nothing.

Abû Hâtim said: “Extremely rejected.” (Mizan, #7904)

Imam al-Suyûtî rejected this narration in “La’ali al-masnu’a” (1/333)

Al-Dhahabî rejected it in “Talkhees Kitab al-Maudua” (1/126/#274).

Hâfiz Ibn Taymiyyah said:

“This narration is from false, fabricated stories–in accordance to the ijma (consensus) of people who know the science of Hadith.” (Mukhtasar Minhaj as-Sunnah)

Al-Shawkânî said in “Fawaid al-Majmua” (372/#68):

“And in the chain is Eesa ibn Mihran, and he is Rafidhi (Shia extremist), who narrated false stories. Ibn al-Jawzi included this narration in his book on fabricated Hadith.”

Ibn Katheer said : “hadith munkar” (al bidayah, 7/293)

Additionally,  Mulla ‘Ali Al Qâri  also mentions that this hadith has “no basis” and portrays it as this is an innovation of the Shi’a. (Al-Asraarul marfoo’a, 595)

Sa’d bin Tareef is a raawi of this narration and Ibn hajar says he is matrook (rejected) and that he was a raafidi, This hadith is supporting his tashayyu’ thus rendering his narration as unacceptable (Taqreebut Tahzeeb)

On the second hadith :

Mullâ ‘Ali Qari al-hanafi  added, “It is proved to be invalid for if something like this had been announced from the Heavens in the Battle of Badr all the honorable Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would have heard it and thus it would have been reported by the great Imams.

On a sidenote, Dhul-faqar was but one of the many swords the blessed Prophet  had, as you can read it here for example.

Note : this post is NOT there to belittle our liege-lord and Khalifah Sayyiduna ‘Ali (RA), one of the best of the Companions of Rasulullah ; rather it is there to expose how far fabricated ahadith have crippled our minds. Just use authentic narrations, which are plenty for this noble companion.

Does eating harisa give strength of 40 men ?

March 11, 2013
  • Status : FABRICATED

Here are the reports copy-pasted :

1) “Uqaili has transmitted this hadith from Muaz bin al-Muthanna from Saeed bin al-Mualla from Muhammad ibn al-Hajjaj from Abdul Malik ibn Umar from Rib’iy from Muaz bin Jabal radhiallahu anhu who says, “I said, “O prophet of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam, have you been given any food from paradise?” He (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) replied,
ٲتيت بالهريسه فٲكلتها فزادت في قوتى قوۃ أربعين و في نكاحى نكاح أربعين

“Yes, hareesa was given to me, so I eat it. Hence there has been a forty-fold increase in my strength and libido.”

Thereafter Muaz radhiallahu anhu would not begin making food but with hareesa.”

2) أتاني جبرﺌيل بهريسۃ من الجنۃ فأكلتها فأعطيت قوۃ أربعين رجالا في الجماع

“Jibril (alaihis salaam) brought hareesah to me from Jannah, so I ate it. Hence, I have been given the libido of 40 men.”

The following ‘Ulama have classified the hadith in question as Mawdoo’ (fabricated).

Hafiz Haithamî states in his Majma’ uz Zawa’id (page 38 volume 5) after mentioning this Hadith, (Hadith 465 in the text of al-Masnoo’ of Mulla Ali, not the Hadith in question) “In it’s chain of transmission is Muhammad ibn al-Hajjâj al-Lakhmi, and he is the one who has fabricated this Hadith”. (Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah, in his footnotes on the Masnoo’ of Mulla Ali al-Qari)

Hafiz al-Dhahabî states in his Mizaanul I’tidaal under the biography of Ibn al-Hajjaj, “He was a hareesa seller. He died in the year 181 AH”.

Ibn ‘Adiy states, “He fabricated the Hadith of hareesa”.

Imam Dâraqutni has said, “He is a liar”.

Ibn Ma’een has said “He is a liar, and evil.”

Hafiz ibn Hajar in Lisaanul Meezaan states regarding Ibn al-Hajjaj’s biography (page 117 volume 5)

Shaykh Abdul Fattâh Abu Ghuddah‘s footnote upon the Al-Masnoo’ fi Ma’rifatil Hadeethil Mawdhoo’ of Mulla Ali al-Qari.

Shaykh Ibn al-Qayyim, whilst recounting the signs of a fabricated Hadith in chapter 14 of his book Al Manaarul Muneef fis Saheeh wad Daeef, brings the 2nd ‘hadith’ quoted above as an example and then the Shaykh elaborates that the words of the hadith seem more reminiscent of being that of doctors and members of religious sects than those of the Messenger of Allah . According to Ibn al-Qayyim this indicates that the hadith is fabricated.

Muhammad ibn al-Hajjâj is also unfortunately the fabricator of the story of the killing of Asmaa bint Marwaan.

(By the way FYI, hareesa is a sweet dish made from wheat flour, Ghee and Honey or Sugar. It’s not the hot chily sauce, like some people eat in the maghreb)

“Hadith” about rose’s smell similar to the Prophet [ﷺ]’s fragrance

December 7, 2012
  • Status : FABRICATED / UNRELIABLE

Here is the oft-quoted ‘hadith’ :

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said that, ‘When I was taken into the sky then the earth started to cry because of my separation. When I was coming back from the ascension then my perspiration dripped on the earth, from which a red rose grew, whosoever wants to smell my fragrance, smell a red rose.’

Imâm As-Suyûtî (RA) has classified this narration as fabricated since there are many narrators in the chain of narration who are unknown. Furthermore, another narration with a similar meaning is narrated through another chain. In this chain, Muhammed bin Sadaqah and Muhammed bin Tamīm are unknown. Also in the chain is Hasan bin Alî Al-Adawî who is known to fabricate narrations.

There is another narration in a similar context stating that the white rose was created from the sweat of Nabī Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam. Hereunder is the narration:

The white rose was created from my sweat on the night of ascension, and the red rose was created from the sweat of Jibrâ’îl, and the yellow rose was created from the sweat of Al-Burâq. (Al-La’âlî Al-Masnû’ah, Vol. 2, Page 234: Dār Al-Kutub Al-Ilmiyah)

It is quoted that Imâm An-Nawawî (RA) said this narration is not authentic and Hafiz Ibn Al-Hajar (RA) is quoted to have claimed it to be fabricated. Furthermore Al-Allāmah As-Suyûtî (RA) has included this narration in his compilation on fabricated Ahādīth due to the narrator Hasan bin Ali Al-Maqdisi, who is Muttaham (accused).

Nevertheless, there are other authentic narrations in which the description of Nabî ‘s blessed sweat is reported, which can be read here for example.

Authenticity of the Du’a Ganj ul Arsh, any source ?

December 1, 2012
  • Status : FABRICATED, CANNOT READ

Here’s a version of the report copy-pasted :

One day Sayyidina Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim was sitting in the Masjid and Hazrat Jibreel Alaihi Salaam brought this Dua’ to Rasulullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim. The riwaaya of this Dua’ is very long. The gist of the isnaad is given.
Hazrat Jibreel Alaihi Salaam said that in addition to a lot of Fadhaail [favors] in this Dua’, the reciter gets three things from Allahu ta ‘ala. Firstly, Allah Subhaana Hoo gives him rizq [livelihood] from the ghayb [unknown sources], and thirdly, whoever recites this Dua’ his enemies will not be able to overcome him. He will be superior to them. The person who does jihad will have the upper hand. He goes on a journey, he will come back with all his things. He will be safe from the shaat of shaytaan na’oootho Billahi min ash shaytanir rajeem. He will be safe from all the bad things and insects and other things on earth and al the bad things in the skies. If a person writes this Dua’ out and drinks it using rain water, he will get help for various diseases. If a person suffers from an unknown illness for which the worldly doctors can find no cure and he writes it [with permission of a True Shaykh or his Khalifa etc.] with Zafran [saffron] and washes it and drinks it for twenty one [21] days he will get health from that Bi Ithnillah. If he doesn’t have children, he will get children with the help of this Dua’.

This du’a is not proved from Hadith.

Moreover, it is mixing some of the known Beautiful Names of Allah and Attributes together with several dubious and unheard of attributes such as:

– al-wafi (the loyal)
– al-mu`jiz (the one who incapacitates)
– al-khalis (the unalloyed)
– al-mukhlis (the sincere)
– al-safi (the pure)
– dhul-hayba (the dignified)
– al-fadil (the meritorious)

It is impermissible to name Allah Most High by other than what He named Himself, or to describe Him by other than what He related of Himself, or what the Prophet [sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallama] said.

What is even worse, this du’a contains mistakes, some of them horrible such as the misspelling “mu`jaz” which means incapacitated! To say this is blasphemy (ilhad) and any normal-minded muslim would not utter such words intentionally.

Some of its syntax shows it was written by a non-Arab speaker. It appears to be known mostly in the Indo-Pakistani continent.

Its name appears to be originally Du`a Kanzul Arsh which means the Du`a of the Treasure of the Throne. However, when we say “Kanz al-`Arsh” in the Sunnah we refer to what the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) himself called by that distinguished name in his hadith, namely:
(i) the Fatiha;
(ii) Ayat al-Kursi;
(iii) the closing verses of Surat al-Baqara;
(iv) Surat al-Kawthar;
(v) the phrase la hawla wa-la quwwata illa billah.

Additionally, the so-called virtues and merits of it are not proved from hadith.

Bring me your proof if you insist the Holy Prophet [sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallama] ever said to his ummah “recite ganj ul arsh” !! Come on, we live in 21st century, you use your brain at school, do the same when there are lies spread on your Prophet [sallallahu ‘alahi wa sallam] ! Grow up and accept evidence.

In the same way, du’a-e-jameelah is a fabrication.

The infamous fabricated du'a Gang-ul-Arsh, with unknown names of Allah and in fact an insulting one

The infamous fabricated du’a Gang-ul-Arsh, with unknown names of Allah and in fact an insulting one

Shaytan met & attended the assembly of the Prophet [ﷺ] ?

October 27, 2012
  • Status : FABRICATED

It is a fabrication, if any such meeting between the Noblest of the creatures and the accursed one did take place, it surely would have been famous and reported by tons of sahaba.

Imam Ibn Taymiyah stated in his Al-Fatawa Al-Kubra regarding this report :
This is a totally fabricated hadith. There is no mention of such a hadith in any of the authentic books of Islam, nor in the books of hadith. Whoever comes to know this should never transmit that story afterwards. If he insists on transmitting it, after knowing that it is fabricated, he is to be punished for this and he is sinful”.

In fact, the person who fabricated that story collected some statements from some authentic hadiths and some other statements from other hadiths that were classified from weak to fabricated. That is why some of the words in that fabricated hadith look genuine. However, the whole story, that is, the meeting between the Prophet and Iblis, is fabricated. It is mere lies and slander and is not mentioned by any considered Muslim scholar.”

Forget this narration.

Can I use fabricated hadith ?

Hereunder is the report copy-pasted :

Nature Of Satan & His Method Of Seduction
The Story Of The Visit Of The Devil

The following is a Hadith from Ibn Abbas (RA), as related by Mu’dh Ibn Jabal and contained in Muhyiddin ‘Arabi’s book, ‘Shajarat al-Kawn’, (The Tree of Being). This is by information from another Hadith by Anas Ibn Malik (RA).
——————————————————————–
One day, a congregation was gathered at the home of one of the Ansar around the Prophet (SAW). (According to Anas, it was Abu Ayyub). In the middle of a wonderful discourse, an ugly voice from the outside was heard saying, “O Messenger of Allah would you permit me to enter? I have business with you!”

All looked at the Prophet (SAW), who said to the ones present, “Do you recognize the owner of this voice?” The companions answered, “Allah and His Messenger know best” The Prophet (SAW) said, “It is Shaytan, the Accursed.”

On hearing that, Umar (RAW), who was present, pulling his sword, asked, “O Messenger of Allah, permit me to go and cut off his head. Let me smash his skull and free the people from his trouble”

The Prophet (SAW) replied, “No, Umar, don’t you know that you cannot kill him? He has permission to exist until Doomsday.”

Then he added, “Open the door and admit him, as he did not come on his own, but on Allah’s orders”. Otherwise, he would not come here. Listen to what he says, and try to understand.”

The Rawi (RA), one of the companions, relates the tale. “They opened the door and he appeared in front of us as an old man cross-eyed (or blind in one eye) and scant of beard, with only six or seven long hairs from his chin. He had a very big head, his crossed eyes close to the top of his head, high on his forehead, with big thick hanging lips, like those of a water buffalo. He saluted the Prophet and the Companions, to which the Prophet (SAW) responded, ‘O Accursed, the salaam and salutations belong to Allah Most High. ‘Then he said, ‘I heard you are here on business. What is it?

“Shaytan said, ‘I did not wish to come here, I was forced to. An angel came to me from your Lord, who honors whom He wishes, and said, “Allah Most High orders you to Muhammad, but you will go to him in humility and abasement, and be submissive and tractable. You will tell him how you seduce and mislead humankind. You are going to answer all his questions truthfully, without a single lie.” And Allah said that if I lied to you, He would turn me into ashes and blow me away in the wind, and my enemies would laugh at me. I come with such orders, O Muhammad.’

“Then the Prophet (SAW) asked the Devil, ‘Tell me, who in the creation do you hate most?’

The Devil answered, ‘You O Muhammad! (“And all the prophets.”) There is no one in the whole creation that I hate more than your or another like you.’

“The Messenger of Allah (SAW) confirmed that the Devil was his (and all the prophets’) greatest foe. He asked, Whom else do you detest, besides me?”

“Shaytan said, ‘The young ones who have given up their pleasures and themselves for Allah’s sake; the men of knowledge who act upon their knowledge and who decline all that is doubtful; the ones who are clean, so clean that they wash thrice that which they wish to cleanse. the patient poor, who neither ask from others the things they need, not complaining.the thankful rich, who give alms lawfully. the knowledgeable who act on what they know; the readers of the Qur’an who pattern themselves on it; those who call to prayer on time; advisors and reformers; abstainers from unlawful food and sex and those who place their trust in Allah; benefactors of the poor; the devout busy in Allah’s service.

“Then, the Prophet (SAW) asked, ‘What happens to you, O Accursed One, when my people do their prayers?’
“I shake and tremble as if stricken with malaria, because I see your people raised in blessing and power each time they prostrate.”

Q: “‘What happens to you, O Accursed, when my people fast?”
A: ‘I have my hands and feet tied until they break their fast..’

Q: ‘What happens to you when they all meet on the Pilgrimage at the house of their Lord?’
A: ‘I lose my wits, I go mad.”

Q: ‘What happens to you when they recite the Holy Qur’an?’
A: ‘I melt, like lead turning to hot liquid in the fire.’

Q: ‘And when they pay alms?’
A: I am torn to pieces, as if the generous donors took a saw and sawed me into four pieces, because there are four beatitudes which the donor receives: the blessing of abundance, love and respect from Allah’s creatures, a shield from Hell fires, and relief from distress and troubles.’

Q: “Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) asked the Devil what he thought of his beloved Companions.
A: About Abu Bakr (RA) he said, ‘I hate him. Even before Islam, he refused to obey, nay! even to hear me. How can he now listen to me?’ About Umar Ibn Khattab he said, ‘I run away whenever I see him. And about Ali Ibn Abu Talib he said, ‘Oh, if I could just be safe from him, if he would just let me be, I would let him be. But he will not leave me alone!’

“Having heard the answers of the accursed Shaytan, the Prophet (SAW) thanked Allah said, ‘Praised be to Allah, who has blessed my people with such felicity and cursed you with such negativity until that appointed time.

“When the Devil heard that, he said, ‘Alas for you, what felicity for your people? How can you feel there is safety for them as long as I exist? I enter their very veins, their very flesh, and they cannot even suspect, let along see or feel me. I swear by Allah Who has given me time until Doomsday, that I will seduce them all, the intelligent and the simpleminded, the learned as well as the ignorant, the devout as well as the sinner. None will be safe from me, except the true servants of Allah.’

Q: ‘Who are the true servants of Allah, according to you?’
A: ‘You know well, O Muhammad, that whoever loves his money and his property, Allah does not count among His servants. Whenever I see someone who does not say “mine” and me, who does not love either money or flattery, I know he is truly a servant of Allah and I run away from him. As long as one loves money, property, flattery, he obeys me, he is my servant. I need many servants and I have servants. I am not alone. I have 70,000 children, each of them with his assigned duties. Each of my 70,000 children has 70,000 shaytans serving under him, all assigned to different posts. Many are with the young, and the older women, and with the theologians and preachers and shaykhs. There are almost no difference of opinion between your young children. And some of the devout and some of the pious get along very well with my people! My devils lead the imagination of the sincerity of their devotions. Soon, they fight with each other and they don’t even know what is happening to them. Then, I whisper to them, “Disbelieve”, but when they disbelieve, I say,

“I am free of you. Surely I fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” (Sûrah al-Hashir, Ayat 16.)

“Then, the accursed Devil told how he profited from habits of man, which he liked. About lying, he said, ‘Do you know, O Muhammad, that lying is from me and that I am the first liar: Whoever lies is my best friend; whoever swears to the truth of Allah and lied to Adam and Eve.

I swore to them both, “Surely I am a sincere advisor to you.” (Sûrah AL A`raf, 7:21).

I also detest loving families. If they think of rejecting each other once, the marriage bond in Allah’s view is dissolved. The wife will be unlawful to the husband. When they sleep together, they will be adulterers. If they have a child, he will be a bastard. I love that.’

‘O Muhammad, let me tell you about my friends who abandon prayers or delay them. When it is time for prayer, I make them imagine that there is still time, that they are busy. They should enjoy what they are doing, they can always pray later! I hope they will die before doing their next prayer. If I don’t succeed again, I enter into their prayers. I tell them, “Look to the right, look to the left! Think of the past, plan your future!” And when they do, I caress their cheeks and kiss their foreheads and take the peace from their hearts. You know, O Muhammad, that the prayers of those whose attention is outside of them or who are imagiging things which do not belong in the presence of Allah are also rejected and thrown in their faces. And, if I am not successful in that, I order them to do their prayers fast, and they look like hens picking at grain. If I still don’t succeed, I follow them to the congregational prayers and put bridles on their heads. I pull, and lift their heads from the prostration before the Imam, and I push their heads down before the Imam touches his head to the ground and I am overjoyed to remember that Allah will turn those unruly heads into donkeys heads on the Last Day of Judgment. If I am still not successful, I try at least to make them crack their fingers while they are making prayers. Then, they will be among those who make my tasbih, instead of Allah’s ta’bih. Or at least I will blow into their noses and make them yawn and, if they open their mouths, a little devil will enter into them through their mouths and increase their love and ambition of this world. The one who loves and is ambitious for this world becomes my soldiers; he obeys me and does as he is ordered.

‘O Muhammad, how can you hope and be serene about your people’s salvation and felicity? I have a trap at every corner for them. I go to the poor and tell them, “What has Allah done for you? Why do you pray to Him? Prayer is for those to whom He has given in abundance.” Then, I go the ones who are sick and tell them to stop praying, and remind them that even Allah said,

“There is no blame on the sick” (Surah Nur, 24:61)

I hope that they will die having abandoned their prayers, so that Allah will meet them with anger in the Hereafter.

‘O Muhammad, if I have told a single lie, may scorpions bite me, and ask from Allah that He turn me into ashes. O Muhammad, do not be sure of your people. I have already converted a sixth of them, who have left their religion.’

Q: ‘O Accursed One, with whom do you most like to spend your time?’
A: ‘The usurer.

Q: ‘And your best friend?’
A: ‘The adulterer.’

Q: With whom do you share your bed?’
A: ‘The drunkard.’

Q: ‘Who are your guests?’
A: ‘The thieves.’

Q: ‘Who are your representatives?’
A: The magicians and soothsayers.’

Q: ‘What pleases you most?’
A: ‘Divorce.’

Q: ‘Whom do you love most?’
A: ‘Those who abandon their Friday prayers.’

The ten friends of Shaytan are, tyrants and oppressors; the arrogant; servile scholars who hide the truth for the benefit of tyrants; dishonest tradesmen; drinkers of alcohol; dealers in fraud; slanderers; those who stir up trouble among friends.

Q: “What breaks your heart, o Accursed One?
A: ‘The determination and the firm footsteps of those who march against the enemies of Allah for Allah’s sake.’

Q: ‘What gives you pain?’
A: ‘The repentance of the penitent.’

Q: ‘What makes you grimace?’
A: ‘The alms given in secret.’

Q: ‘What makes your eyes blind?’
A: ‘The tahajjud prayer in the middle of the night.’

Q: ‘What makes you bow your head?’
A: ‘Prayer done in congregation.’

‘Q: ‘O Shaytan, according to you, who are the happiest among people?’
A: ‘The ones who purposefully abandon their prayers.’

Q: ‘And the best among people?’
A: ‘The miser.’

Q: ‘What prevents you from doing your job?’
A: ‘The gathering of men of knowledge and their discourses.’

Q: ‘How do you eat your food?’
A: ‘With my left hand and the tips of my fingers.’

Q: ‘When the sun is hot, where do you seek shade?’
A: ‘Under people’s dirty fingernails.’

” ‘I asked Allah to give me a house, and He gave me the public baths.
I asked Allah to give me a temple, and he gave me the marketplace as my temple.
I asked Allah to give me a book. He gave me the book of poetry as my book.
I asked for a call to prayer, and He gave me the dancing music.
I asked for someone to share my bed, and He gave me the drunkard.
I asked Allah for helpers. Allah gave me those who believe in free will.
I asked Allah to give me brothers and sisters, and Allah gave me the squanders who spend their money on evil things. Allah said,”surely the squanders are the Devil’s brethren” (Surah Bani Isr’ail, Ayat 27).

Then I asked Allah to be able to see the children of Adam while they are unable to see me, and He accorded that to me. I wished that the very veins of the children of Adam be my routes, and it was given to me. So, I flow in their veins as I wish and enter their flesh. All these were given to me, and I am proud of what I have received. And, let me add, O Muhammad, that there are more with me than there are with you.’

” ‘Then the Prophet (SAW) said, ‘If you had not proven what you said with the verses of Allah’s Book, it would have been hard for me to confirm what you say.’

” ‘The Devil continued, ‘Do you know, O Muhammad, that I have a son whose name is Atam? He urinates in the ear of the people who go to sleep without performing their night prayers. His urine puts them to sleep, otherwise, no one could have gone to bed without finishing their prayers.

Then, I have a son whose name is Mutaqadi. His duty is to publicize the prayers, the devotions, the good deeds done in secret a hundred fold. When deeds are publicized and receive credit and praise from the creatures of Allah, Allah takes away 99 of the promised one hundred rewards.

Then, I have a son whose name is Kuhayl. His duty is to put kohl on the eyes of those in the presence of wise men or preachers. The ones whose eyes he has touched start falling asleep. They are, thus, prevented from hearing the words of Allah or receiving any benefits from them.

” ‘The Devil talked about women. He said, ‘Whenever a woman leaves her seat, a Devil sits in her place. On the lap of every woman sits a shaytan who makes her desirable to whoever looks at her. Then, he orders the woman to open and show her arms, her legs, and her breast and with his claws, tears her veil of shame and decency.’

” ‘Then the Devil started to complain. He said, ‘O Muhammad, inspite of all this, I have no strength to take away the faith of the faithful. I only take away their faith when they throw it away. If I were able, there would be no one on the face of this world who could say: LA ILAHA ILLALLAH, MUHAMMAD RASULULLAH, ” There is no Creator by Allah, Muhammad is His Messenger.” I would not leave a single one to pray or fast. All I can do is to give the children of Adam imaginations, illusions and delusions, make the ugly appear beautiful, the wrong, right; and the bad, good. Neither do you have the power to give faith. You are only a proof of the Truth, because I know that, if you were given the power to give true faith, you would not leave a single non-believer on the face of this world. The fortunate one who is a believer is fortunate in his mother’s womb, and the rebellious sinner is a rebel in his mother’s womb. As you are the guide of
the fortunate, I am only the cause of sin of the ones who are destined to sin. Allah is He who renders one fortunate and another rebellious.’ Then he recited from Surah Hud,

“And if thy Lord had pleased He would have made people a single nation, and they cease not to differ, except those upon whom thy Lord has mercy, and for this did He create them. And the word of them altogether” (Surah Hud, Ayat 118-119.)

He recited from Surah Ahzab, Ayat 38: ‘ “And the command of Allah is a decree that is made absolute.’ ”

Then, the Mercy upon the Universe told the Devil, ‘O Father of All Bitterness, I wonder if it is at all possible for you to repent and return to your Lord. I promise I would intercede for you.’

“The Accursed One answered, ‘O Messenger of Allah, it is Allah’s justice. The ink on the pen which wrote the judgment is dry. What will happen until Doomsday. The One who made the master of all prophets, the speaker for the inhabitants of Paradise, the One who chose you to be the beloved amongst His creation, chose me to be the master of sinners and the speaker of the inhabitants of Hell. He is Allah. O Muhammad, this which I have told you is my last word to you, and I have told nothing but the truth.’ “

Fabricated hadith on 360 rewards

  • Status : FABRICATED

Here is a random version of the report copy-pasted :

It was reported from the Messenger of Allah that he said about this Hadith: “Anyone recites this supplication at anytime is like performing 360 Hajj journeys, reciting the Qur’an 360 times, freeing 360 servants, giving 360 dinars in charity, and relieved 360 distressed person.” As soon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said that Hadith, Gabriel (peace be upon him) descended and said: Anyone of Allah’s Servants (male or female) recites this supplication once in a lifetime, by my highness and glory, I guarantee seven things for him: 1- Move away poverty from him/her. 2- Secure him/her from the interrogation of Munkar and Nakir. 3- Make him/her pass the Sirat. 4- Secure him/her against sudden death. 5- Prohibit Hell fire to harm him/her. 6- Secure him/her from the press of the grave. 7- Secure him/her against the wrath of an unjust ruler.

The text of the Hadith reads as follows : “La Ilaha Illa Allah, Al Jalil Al Jabbar. La Ilaha Illa Allah, Al Wahid Al Qahhar. La Ilaha Illa Allah, Al `Aziz Al Ghaffar. La Ilaha Illa Allah, Al Karim As-Sattar. La Ilaha Illa Allah, Al Kabir Al Muta’al. La Ilaha Illa Allah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu, Ilahan Wahidan Rabban, wa Shahidan Samadan, wa nahnu Lahu Muslimun. La Ilaha Illa Allah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu Ilahan wahidan, Rabban wa Shahidan, wa nahnu lahu `Abidun. La Ilaha Illa Allah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu, Ilahan Wahidan Rabban wa Shahidan, wa nahnu Lahu Qanitun. La Ilaha Illa Allah Wahdahu La Sharika Lahu Ilahan Wahidan Rabban wa Shahidan, wa nahnu lahu Sabirun. La Ilaha Illa Allah Muhammad Rasul Allah. `Ali Waliullah. Allahumma Ilika Wajjahtu Wajhiya, wa Ilayka Fawadtu Amry, wa `Alayka Tawakaltu ya Arhama Ar-Rahimin.”

After a close examination of the papers in question, it has become clear that it is false and fabricated and it was not reported by the scholars of Hadith by these wordings and the proofs of its fabrication are obvious for the following :

  1. This invocation is contradictory to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) because it contains these numbers of rewards to the person who recites this invocation.
  2. It contains “`Ali Waliullah”. There is no doubt that `Ali ibn Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) is one of Allah’s Guardians, but singling him out with that description denotes the touch of Shia.
  3. This Hadiths indicates that its reciter enters paradise even if he/she commits major sins or committed one of the nullifiers of faith which is void and not accepted either intellectually or by Shari`ah.

Thus it contains many statements that contradict the Shari`ah of Islam. It is contradictory to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Accordingly, it is obligatory to prevent the distribution of these and other similar papers which are meant to change and alter the monotheistic faith of Islam and follow misguidance, Bid`ahs and superstitions.
